Content Standards
We don’t want to create an overcomplicated ‘Content Standards Policy’ text that is confusing to parents and children. We have broken it down into a simplified statement of our vision and some key limitations. Please use common sense when posting a book and remember all books are reviewed by the parent moderation team who are passionate about protecting their children.
Pubboo is intended to be a safe environment for children to read, learn and explore. All content should at all times be kid-safe. When you are writing your book and especially when you are illustrating it.
Some key content standards limitations are:
Sexual
We have decided, to remain appropriate for all age groups we will not include sex education content or content of a sexual nature on the platform. This excludes nongraphic scientific referencing to reproduction within a scientific text.
Swearing
Swear words from all languages are banned without limitation.
Racist
“prejudiced against or antagonistic towards a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.”
Sexist
characterized by or showing prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of gender.
Transphobic
“having or showing a dislike of or prejudice against transsexual or transgender people.”
Homophobic
“having or showing a dislike of or prejudice against gay people.”
Religion
Books containing religion are allowed but must be listed within the Factbook: Religions category or the Religious Stories Category. Whilst we respect your beliefs we also respect the beliefs of others so religious texts should not be posted in other fact based categories. Pubboo is a place for creative sharing and not for religious debate.
Religious Persecution
Books are not allowed to contain the religious persecution of any religious or non-religious groups.
Anti-Sematic
“hostile to or prejudiced against Jewish people.”
Xenophobic
“having or showing a dislike of or prejudice against people from other countries.”
Violence
The encouragement of violence is strictly prohibited. Violence and bullying awareness is allowed but should be carefully constructed.
Political Advocacy
Educational political content is acceptable as long as it doesn’t push a specific political ideology or agenda. If political content is deemed to be attempting to influence a child’s political opinion it will be removed.
